Fascinated since boyhood by the natural beauty of trees and the way their barks create the most wonderful and mysterious shapes, John Barnard began experimenting with techniques to preserve these incredible natural design miracles in his own work.
Conceiving the idea of wedding sections of carefully chosen wood into his own designs by 'floating' them in a suspension medium, thus began the years of research and lengthy trial and error (mostly errors) that threatened to consume him. Eventually his efforts led to the development of a special resin combining the essential qualities required: the ability to intrude into every crevice offered by bark and bind tightly to it forever, to resist daily usage and not scratch or discolour and finally, to look stunning.
The result is spectacular. Furniture has been transformed into a higher art.
Indeed, clients have commissioned sections of ResinRaptures wood, not as furniture, but to hang as sumptuous wall art, so beautiful is the effect, particularly when backlit. Pieces can be any size.
